Gelatin fining in keg and hop aroma

I often use gelatin in the keg for beer that needs to be brilliantly clear in very short time, but usually avoid using it for my IPA/DIPAs for fear of stripping the hop aroma.

Have folks experienced a significant reduction in hop aroma when fining with gelatin in the keg?
Particularly for dry hopped beers?

I've used it in APA and IPA before and have not noticed any detriment. I only do it, though, if the beer is really murky and I don't have time to wait for it to clear (like for a competition or something.)

That could be a really fun experiment, though. Split a batch into two kegs (after hopping) and put gelatin into one and see if there's a difference. Maybe I'll try with the next APA/IPA I make.

A great idea! Perhaps put a small tasting panel together to do a blind A/B (or A/B/X) comparison? Because of the clarity issues it would have to be truly blind -- opaque cups and / or blindfolds. :)

When I brew my entry for the Centennial comp, I'll pull a 6 pack off the keg, then add gelatin to the keg. If we can get a couple people to do this we'll have a group of samples to test against. The more different samples we get the better the results will be.
